Beng Melea Temple (Temple of Lotus Pond) - Beng Mealea was built as a Hindu temple, but some carvings depict Buddhist motifs. Its primary material is sandstone and it is largely unrestored, with trees and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great heaps. For years it was difficult to reach, but a road recently built to the temple complex of Koh Ker passes Beng Mealea and more visitors are coming to the site, as it is 77 km from Siem Reap by road.

Killing Fields, Landmine Museum & War MuseumAs fun and vibrant as Cambodia is today, it also has a dark past that it is still recovering from after the horrors of the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970's. While the Prison and Killing fields in Phnom Penh are bigger and well presented, there are killing fields all over Cambodia. In the same trip the landmine museum and war museum are also well worth a visit.

The entry fee to the landmine museum also goes towards clearing fields still littered with landmines today and the Khmer Rouge never documented where and how many landmines they placed throughout the country.
